Police have raided a house in Male' where a suspect was caught cooking alcohol.
Police had entered the residence after Maldives National Defence Force MNDF firefighters responded to reports that smoke was coming out of the house.
The search conducted by the security forces found that alcohol was being cooked on the premises and that the smoke was coming from it.
Police said that they arrested a foreigner from the scene of the crime and that it was a 34-year-old man.
They said that reports of the smoke came around 03:12 am in the morning and that they had found several equipments used to ferment and cook alcohol.
