Maldives National Defence Force MNDF says a tourist who was reported missing while surfing at Meemu Atoll surfing area has swum to safety and reached Veyvah of the same atoll.
MNDF said that it had received the report of the missing surfer around 12:47 and that the missing individual was from the group 7 tourists who went out there today.
It said the coastguard was mobilized shortly after the report came in.
MNDF later confirmed that the missing tourist had swum to safety and reached Veyvah of the same Atoll. It said that the island's council had confirmed this around 02:00 pm and that the tourist was doing well and healthy.
