India and the Maldives have signed an agreement for a USD 100 million Line of Credit from India to the Maldives.
The agreement signing ceremony was held today at the Foreign Ministry and Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer signed the document on behalf of the Maldives.
General Manager of India's Exim Bank Nirumith Vedh signed on behalf of India. Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra and his Maldivian Counterpart Ahmed Latheef was also present at the ceremony.
This line of credit was announced when President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited India in August of this year.
The Foreign Ministry said that this USD 100 million was granted to assist and facilitate ongoing key infrastructure projects in the Maldives.
It further said that India continues to support the long-term development and progress of the Maldives.
