Maldives Monetary Authority MMA has brought in a reprinted stock of MVR 50 notes due to a shortage.

The central bank said that the reprinted notes were brought into the country yesterday.

MMA further said that the notes are now being stored in the State Reserve.

The current note series in circulation were launched back in 2016 on the occasion of 50 years of independence.

The 'Ran Dhiha Faheh' series included 5,10,20, 50, 100, 500 and for the first time 1,000 notes.

These notes were introduced into circulation on January 26th on 2016.
