President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says the government would next hike the salaries of those working in the healthcare services.
The President made this remark in his opening address at the third Viavathi Rajje conference being held on Gan Island of Laamu Atoll.
President Solih said that after his government had hiked the salaries of those working in the education sector, the government would not turn its attention to the healthcare sector workers.
Also in his speech, the President underscored the administration’s initiatives to strengthen the healthcare system.
He said that the expansion of the health sector is currently underway with a specialist doctor outreach program and mobile laboratory services targeted toward islands that lack these services.
The government implemented the changes to the salary structures of teachers in May of this year after the President announced the change back in February during his address to the parliament.
