Environmental Protection Agency EPA says it would begin the survey to assess the damage to Villimale reef after a platform used for the construction of the Thila Male bridge ran aground on it last month.

The massive infrastructure ran aground on the South East corner of Villimale's reef on the 16th of last month and it took the bridge contractor AFCONS of India 12 days to remove the platform from the reef.

Speaking to 'The Press' EPA's Director General Ibrahim Naeem said that the Agency would begin the damage assessment survey next Saturday.

Naeem said that currently the contractor is cleaning up the debris from the platform and said that he hoped that work would be concluded by Saturday.
