President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says the thoughts of the Maldivian people are with Pakistan as the neighboring country struggle with devastating floods.
The National Disaster Management Authority in Pakistan had said that the death toll from the monsoon rains has reached 1,033 - with 119 killed in the last 24 hours.
Pakistani officials said 33 million people had been hit by the floods - about 15% of the country's population.
They also said the losses caused by floods this season were comparable to those during the floods of 2010-11, said to be the worst on record.
President Solih said in a tweet that he was saddened to hear of the devastation caused by floods in Pakistan, which have now claimed over a thousand lives and displaced millions more.
He further said our thoughts and sympathies are with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government, and the people of Pakistan.
President Solih also prayed that Allah (SWT) ease the suffering of those affected.
