Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has departed to India on an unofficial trip today.
This has been confirmed by the parliament.
But the Parliament did not give details about his trip to India including when he is set to return.
Nasheed had last traveled to India in April of this year to take part in the Raisina Dialogue.
The Raisina Dialogue is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the global community.
While the Speaker has traveled to India, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih today departed on his tour of 5 islands in Meemu Atoll.
The President stopped first at Raiymandhoo of Meemu Atoll and met with community representatives of the island before embarking on the second leg of his trip to Maduvari.
A delegation of cabinet ministers and high-ranking officials joined the President on his trip which is set to conclude on Monday.
