Islamic Ministry has ordered some mosques to lower the volume level during congregational prayers.
The Islamic Ministry made the order citing that many residents living near these mosques have repeatedly complained about the volume levels during prayer times.
Islamic Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Afrah said to some media that some mosques use the same loudspeakers to make the Azan (call of prayer) and during the prayer itself.
He was quoted as saying that this makes the prayer volume very loud and for some high-rise buildings the loudspeakers are facing directly at the buildings.
The Ministry had asked the Imams of these mosques to shut off the loudspeakers during prayer times.
But the Ministry did not specify which mosques were given these instructions nor how many were asked to decrease the volume.
