Police have denied leaking a photo of the murder victim Shiaau Mohamed Saeed taken at the scene of the horrific crime.
The 22-year-old was brutally killed at an apartment in Male' earlier this month and was decapitated and seriously mutilated with her limbs cut off.
Photos of the victim have been circulating on social media today where the victim appears to be still at the scene of the bloody murder.
On this matter, Police said that although the media had reported that the photos were leaked from the Police, the pictures in question were not from the police.
Police also said that the pictures in question were not crime scene photos being used in their homicide investigation.
They further said that Police were further investigating how anyone was able to enter the crime scene and take photos of the brutal crime and leak the pictures.
Police further urged that since the pictures show inhumane brutality and as it would bring undue distress to many, the public should refrain from sharing the images with one another on social media platforms.
One of the leaked pictures shows the victim's mutilated body lying on a bloody floor with her head and limbs missing. The second picture shows another part of the apartment with more blood on the floor and a cupboard on the wall.
Police had made an arrest regarding the heinous crime when they apprehended 22-year-old skater Shaahil Mohamed from the scene of the crime.
