Maldives National Defense Force MNDF reports a cargo boat carrying goods from Male' to Addu has run aground on a reef last night.
MNDF said that the boat had run aground on a reef north of Laamu Atoll Maamendhoo around 03:00 am earlier this morning.
They identified the vessel as 'New Line' en route to Addu City with 16 people onboard.
MNDF further said that the 3rd Squadron of its Central Area Coastguard had provided assistance to the boat in distress.
They said that MNDF soldiers had helped unload the goods aboard the boat to Maamendhoo.
MNDF added that it would begin re-floating the vessel once all the goods on the boat have been unloaded from the vessel.
They also confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
