A policeman has been suspended in relation to a leaked video that allegedly showed him having same-sex relations with another man.

The video was leaked last night and appears to show the policeman, who is reportedly from the Drug Enforcement Department, having same-sex relations with a foreigner, who had also been seen in other videos leaked in recent days.

Police said that they were probing the matter and that they have now begun a criminal investigation of the leaked video.

They said that the Policeman is also being investigated by the Police Professional Standard Command.

Police further said that the Policeman had been suspended and that he was suspended without pay.

The explicit video of the Policeman was leaked days after videos of some high-profile individuals were leaked on social media. The individuals include former MP for Nolhivaram Constituency Mohamed Nasheed as well as the brother and lawyer of the speaker of the Parliament Nazim Sattar.

Also, explicit videos of two current MPs have also been leaked on social media.

While, having same-sex relations is a criminal offense in the Maldives, authorities are yet to make an arrest over the leaked videos.
