Armed security forces have been dispatched to several areas of Male' city following a bomb threat.
Media reports have confirmed that the bomb threat was given via the Male' City Portal. The threat said that a pipeline bomb would be blown near the Chinese embassy and Russian consulate in Male'.
Soldiers from Maldives National Defense Force MNDF were dispatched to these areas along with the residence of the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.
Reports have also said that the roads to Supreme Court have also been shut and that MNDF soldiers were on patrol in the area.
Media reports have said that the MNDF bomb squad was also present on the scene and that there was a heavy Police presence in the areas to cordon off the streets.
No authority has yet given an official statement on the current and reporters have also not been asked not to enter the cordoned-off area.
