Police have arrested two individuals in connection to the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan who went missing back in 2014.
Police had first arrested social media activist Ismail Abduhraheem Adam earlier this morning at a cafe in the Male' area. Reports have said that Police had received the court warrant to arrest him yesterday.
Authorities had stopped Ismail from entering war-torn Syria via the Turkish border back in 2015.
Meanwhile, Police had also arrested Ahmed Ismail today in relation to the journalist's disappearance.
Ahmed has a drug-related criminal record and Police have also accused him of sending locals to Syria and Pakistan for extremist activities.
It has been nearly 8 years since Rilwan was abducted and forcefully disappeared and authorities are no closer to determining his fate with certainty.
Although, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had formed a commission to get to the bottom of the disappearance but to no avail.
