All three individuals who sustained serious injuries in a launch accident last night at Gaafu Alifu Villigilli have been transferred to Male' for further treatment.

The accident happened when the launch collided with the entrance channel while entering the channel.

Five were onboard the small when the accident occurred and the collision killed two while three others sustained serious injuries.

Officials from the island had confirmed last night that the three who were injured had been rushed to the island's hospital and that one had been on ventilator support since last night.

Officials from Villigilli Council had said that two of the three injured in the accident had been transferred to Male' around 2:00 am and that they were transferred on a chartered flight.

While Maldives National Defense Force MNDF had confirmed that it had used the Dornier Airplane to transfer the patient who was on the ventilator.

It has been reported that all three had been transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH in Male'.

The circumstances of the accident are still unclear.
