Elections Commission has confirmed that voting is currently underway in the by-election to fill the Villimale seat of the Women's Development Committee of the Male' City Council.
The Commission said that the voting had begun at 08:00 am today and that voting would continue till 04:00 pm today.
It also said that the ballot box for the election has been kept at Muhiyyideen school in Villimale.
The Commission has confirmed that 2,900 people are eligible to vote in the by-election.
Only two parties have fielded candidates for the election with PPM fielding former Villimale resident Fathimath Nazima for the seat. She is competing with MNP's Aminath Sheeza who is currently living in Villimale.
The Villimale WDC seat become vacant after former member Aminath Eman died tragically in a road accident back in March.
