Maldives Meteorological Servies Met Office has reissued a yellow alert over central Atolls as bad weather continues over the center and north of the country.
The Met Office had initially issued the yellow over 5 hours ago over the Atolls between Baa Atoll to Meemu Atoll. It had said that the alert would continue till 10:30 am today.
With the weather still yet to improve in the area, the Met Office reissued the yellow alert over the area two hours back. The alert said that it would cover Atolls between Baa Atoll to Meemu Atoll.
The alert also said that heavy rain is expected along with strong winds of 25-30 mph with gusts of 50 mph. The Met Office said that the seas around the area are expected to get very rough.
Meanwhile, the Met Office had issued a white alert over the northern Maldives earlier today from Haa Alifu Atoll to Raa Atoll.
It had said that the alert is from 08:15 am to 14:15 pm. The Met Office said that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the area along with strong winds of 22-27 mph and gusts of 45 mph. It added that rough seas are expected in the area.
