President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have departed for Singapore on an official trip.

The President's Office confirmed that the first couple had departed for Singapore last night but refrained from revealing any more information about their trip.

The President had departed for Singapore in February following advice from his doctors to get treatment for his Thyroid condition abroad.

He had then announced that he had to get surgery and had said that he would be temporarily stepping aside from his role as President and leaving them to Vice President Faisal Naseem while the President went under the knife.

Vice President Faisal was then sworn in as President the following Friday but hours later President Solih resumed his duties having had a successful surgery.
