Islamic Ministry has begun accepting Zakat Al-Fitr in cash.
The Ministry said that these arrangements were made to help elderly individuals and those unable to pay online to make Zakat contributions this year.
It said that starting today, the Ministry would be accepting Zakat payments from 10 am to 1 pm on all days except government holidays and that the payments would be accepted from counters at Islamic Center Hall.
Islamic Ministry had opened online payment acceptance of Zakat Al-Fitr on the first of Ramdan itself.
Online users can access one of the following platforms to make the Zakat payments;
- Ooredoo M-Faisa
- Dhiraagu Pay
- Maldivian Islamic Bank
- Bank of Maldives
- Fahipay
- Finance Ministry Badeyri portal
The Islamic ministry had confirmed that, unlike in previous years, those who make Zakat Al-Fitr payments online can choose the island they want to make the payment for and that the money would be used on that island.
