MP for Maradhoo Constituency Ibrahim Shareef (Mavota) has accused MDP leadership of making deals with former Vice President and Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb.
He made these comments in a reply to social media post by a member of the public who shared a report by the now-disbanded Asset Recovery Commission which showed that MP Shareef had received a total of MVR 88.6 million through the MMPRC on different occasions.
Shareef said that he did not make a deal with Adeeb to acquire anything.
He further said that he was not part of MDP leadership and accused the party's leaders made deals with Adeeb who had been convicted of corruption and abuse of power.
The report by the Asset Recovery Commission showed that Adeeb had spent between MVR 600,000 to MVR 800,000 on the campaigning for the parliamentary elections.
In addition, Adeeb had said that MP Shareef had received MVR 10 million on two occasions to get former Speaker of the Parliament Maseeh appointed to the seat.
He had also said that MP Shareef was given MVR 20 million to vote to change the Supreme Court bench composition from 7 judges to 5 judges.
