A taxi driver arrested for sexually harassing a female passenger had been remanded in custody for three days.
Police had confirmed earlier that they had arrested a 41-year-old male after the suspect had driven a 20-year-old female passenger to the secluded beach area in Hulhumale' Phase II against her will.
Police also said that the driver then had allegedly made sexual advances against the victim.
Today police confirmed that the suspect had been remanded in custody for three days by the Hulhumale Court yesterday.
Sources have said that the woman had taken the taxi to go from a house in Henveiru ward to Maafannu ward of Male'. But instead of dropping her off at her destination in Maafannu, the suspect had locked the doors of the vehicle once she got in and driven to Hulhumale' against her will.
Police are currently investigating the case.
