President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed ex-MD of Stelco Hassan Mughnee to the post of State Minister in the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.

Mughnee was axed from the Stelco post yesterday and the government had appointed former Elections Commissioner Ahmed Shareef as his replacement.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Brandies International Business School, Massachusetts, USA, and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management and Marketing from HELP University College, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Mughnee's new appointment means he would join 5 others who are also fulfilling the posts of State Minister at the Environment Ministry.

They include Ali Solih, Mohamed Shareef, Dr. Abdullah Naseer, Ahmed Mujuthaba, and Khadheeja Hassan.

While a State Minister is expected to earn a salary of MVR 41,000 per month, Mughnee would have received a monthly income of MVR 98,000 while as the Managing Director of Stelco.
