Maldives Immigration says it would grant Special Visa to the Ukrainian tourists who plan to stay in the Maldives for an extended period of time, due to the ongoing situation in the country.
It said that Ukrainian tourists shall apply for the visa extension via the IMUGA portal of Maldives Immigration, before the expiry of the visa granted on arrival.
Immigration also said that the following documents should be submitted for visa extension;
- Application for Permit Extension (IM23)
- Copy of passport data page
- Digital photo of the applicant which complies with the Visa Photo Standard of Maldives Immigration
- Copy of the Operating License issued by the Ministry of Tourism to the tourist facility sponsoring the applicant
- Payment invoice, if the applicant is staying in a tourist guesthouse
Immigration said that once the application is processed, an appointment will be given to submit the passport for the visa.
Yesterday the Tourism Ministry had said that there are 750 Ukrainian tourists currently in the Maldives and the number of Ukrainian visiting the Maldives has dwindled ahead of the military escalation in the country.
Ukraine is a mid-range tourism market for the Maldives with 5,352 Ukrainians visiting the country in January of this year.
