MP for Naifaru constituency Ahmed Shiyam says this administration has sold out the country for two rotten eggs.
He made these comments while speaking at the campaign event organized by the PPM candidate for the Kurendhoo Council president.
Shiyam said that there are Indian soldiers on every atoll of the country and cannot even estimate the number of Indian troops deployed here in the Maldives.
The MP further said that India would know more about the riches and resources in the Maldivian waters before the locals.
Shiyam said that even though the government had previously denied the deployment of Indian troops here in the Maldives, it has since conceded that there were Indian soldiers in the country at a parliament committee hearing.
He explained that the government had justified the deployment by talking about how it would be difficult to get staple foods like eggs, onion, and rice.
MP Shiyam said that this proves that the government has now sold the country for two rotten eggs and this is not a simple matter.
