Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 844 new cases of COVID-19 across the country as the steady decline in cases continues.

The Agency said that out of the 3,996 samples tested for COVID in the last 24 hours, only 844 came back positive for COVID-19.

HPA said that out of these, only 104 were reported from the Greater male' area which means the positivity rate in the capital has now dropped to 13 percent.

The Agency also said that 670 new cases were reported from the inhabited islands while another 38 were confirmed from operational resorts. HPA added that it was currently confirming the location of 32 new cases reported on Sunday.

The new cases take the total number of pandemic cases reported in the country to a staggering 165,073.

HPA said that currently there are 15,035 active cases of the pandemic in the country as the agency had recorded 149,734 recoveries. The Agency mentioned that 24 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed 291 individuals from the Maldives since April 2020.
