Maldives Airports Company Ltd MACL has confirmed that an employee's hand got stuck in the luggage conveyor belt in Velaana International Airport today.

Speaking to "The Press" Corporate Communication Manager at MACL Shamman Shakir said that an employee's hand got stuck in the luggage conveyor belt while trying to unload luggage from the Sri Lankan airlines flight that landed today.

It has been confirmed that the employee's hand had been broken and Shamman confirmed that the employee was now seeking treatment.

Although a number of employees do technical work at the airport, such mishaps are relatively uncommon at VIA.

But recently a ramp vehicle had gotten out of control and crashed into a pole and injured two employees from the airport.
