Elections Commission says 78 percent of eligible voters have cast their votes in the Komandoo by-election currently underway in the country.
The Commission said that until 03:00 pm today, 2,570 voters have now cast their ballots in the election. It had said that this includes 1,288 men and 1,282 women.
Elections Commission added that 3,309 individuals are eligible to vote in the election today.
Voting had begun at 7 am today in Shaviyani Atoll Komandoo, Maroshi, and Foakaidhooo of the Komandoo constituency.
Voting is also underway at the ballot boxes kept in Male' for voters living in the Greater Male' Area. A total of 1,300 people are eligible to cast their votes in the ballot boxes kept in Male'.
Earlier, the opposition party PPM had filed a complaint at the Elections Commission saying that MPD had been trying to influence supporters by handing out cash near the voting center in Male'.
All three major political parties have fielded candidates for the upcoming by-election for the Komandoo constituency.
While Moosa Fathuhee would be representing the opposition PPM, MNP's Abdul Hannan Idrees is vying for the seat with Mohamed Rashid looking to retain the seat for MDP.
