The Government is seeking a supplier of speed boats as they look to acquire sea vessels that would help in transporting COVID samples from one island to the other as the COVID wave sweep through the country.
The Finance Ministry said that the government is looking to acquire 13-speed boats for the use of the Health Ministry under the ' COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Project' funded by the World Bank.
It said that the bid application for the project is scheduled to take place on the 10th of March at 11:00 am at the Ministry.
The Ministry clarified that interested parties must pay a non-refundable fee of MVR 1,500 or USD 100 to register for the bid application. It also added that bid security of USD 25,000 or an amount equivalent in Dhivehi Rufiya must be submitted as well.
Finance Ministry said that bidding rules would be based on International Competetive Bidding procedures and that it would be overseen by international regulations.
Though the Maldives has been fighting the COVID pandemic since March 2020, not every island is able to run samples for COVID tests.
