President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has tested positive for COVID-19.

The President confirmed this via his official Twitter account. In his Tweet, President Solih said that this was revealed after he had done a PCR COVID test prior to his trip to the Atolls.

President Solih also said that he was currently in isolation.

The President's Office said that the President is in good health and in isolation at his official residence, Mulee’aage.

This is the first time President Solih had tested positive for COVID-19. Previously his wife and First Lady Ahmed Fazna had tested positive for COVID-19.

The President's mother had also tested positive for COVID and had sought treatment at Dharumavanth Hospital.

Many are wishing for the President's speedy recovery on social media and this includes other political leaders as well as MPs and public figures.

The President's result comes as he prepared to depart to Shaviyani Atoll for a trip along with the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed ahead of the Komandoo byelection to garner support for the MDP candidate.
