The President’s Office has today extended the application deadline for the vacancies at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

It said that the new deadline to submit applications is Monday, January 31, 2022.

It also said that interested parties must submit their applications, along with relevant documents, to the President’s Office from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on January 30-31, 2022.

Application forms are available at the reception of the President’s Office and could be downloaded from the website of the President’s Office: www.presidency.gov.mv.

The vacancies opened up after the remaining members of the ACC resigned last month amid talk of their dismissal through the parliament.

The three members who resigned last month include Mariyam Shiuna, Fathimath Anool, and Aishath Abdullah.

Earlier, ACC member Ibrahim Shakeel tendered his resignation from the Commission.

The whole commission resigned as the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions moved to recommend their dismissal to the Parliamentary floor after deliberating on the matter.

The decision to pursue the dismissal of the ACC member was made after an audit of their work through the Auditor General's Office. The Audit showed that the ACC was incapable of investigating cases and had no power to act with authority.
