President of the Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeq says all three candidates competing in the Komandoo constituency by-election are carrying out anti-campaigning activities.

All three major political parties have fielded candidates for the upcoming by-election for the Komandoo constituency that includes the islands of Komandoo, Maroshi, and Foakaidhoo.

While Moosa Fathuhee would be representing the opposition PPM, MNP's Abdul Hannan Idrees is vying for the seat with Mohamed Rashid looking to retain the seat for MDP.

Speaking on PSM's 'Raaje Miadhu' program, Fuad said that the election commission was closely monitoring the campaign activities of all three candidates and that it had not received any complaints regarding their campaigns.

He said that the commission would investigate if a complaint is filed against a candidate.

The President of the Elections Commission also said that the commission has been instructing candidates to campaign as per the regulations and refrain from carrying out anti-campaigning activities against their opponents.

He went on to say that all three had been seen carrying out anti-campaign activities.

Fuad said individuals who are elected to the parliament would be responsible for creating legislature and that they should also campaign within the law.

He added that the commission is working to create the passes required for the by-election tabled for next month.

The Elections Commission was forced to table the by-election after the MP for Komandoo constituency late Hussain Waheed passed away last month after battling cancer.
