Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that the total number of COVID cases reported in the Maldives has now surpassed 96,000.

HPA said yesterday that the country reported 161 new cases on Sunday and that 80 cases came from the operational resorts in the country.

The Agency reported another 41 cases from the inhabited islands while the Greater Male' Area reported 40 new cases yesterday.

HPA confirmed that the new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases have now reached 96,052 in the Maldives.

It said that currently there are 2,463 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that 13 COVID remained hospitalized in the Maldives.

A total of 93,314 people have now recovered from the pandemic in the Maldives.

HPA had also said that the pandemic has killed 262 people in the Maldives with mostly elderly individuals with underlying health issues succumbing to the illness.

It also said that total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
