Housing Development Corporation has allocated 60 land plots from Hulhumale' Phase II just to Male' citizens.
Previously it had stated that any Maldivian above the age of 18 years can buy a land plot from Phase II but since then has changed its criteria to allow only Male' citizens to buy land from Phase II.
Land sale Criteria
- Must be a citizen of Male' with a valid registry
- Must not have brought a land plot from Hulhumale' Phase I or Phase II through HDC
- Must not have land or house of more than 600sq registered in Male' for residential purposes
- Must be a Maldivian above the age of 18
- If a land plot or house plot in Male' area has been registered under multiple individuals, the applicant must not have a portion of more than 600 sq registered under his or her name.
HDC had set the lowest bidding price for beachfront plots at MVR 3,900 per Square foot. While for beachside plots, the lowest bidding price starts at MVR 3,500 per Square foot.
HDC had said that it would take bid security of MVR 320,000 for beachside and beachfront land plots. It had also said that it would be accepting bid forms for beachfront land plots from February 9 at 01:00 pm and for beachside land plots bids must be submitted on February 16 at 01:00 pm.
