Health Protection Agency HPA says the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has now reached 95,700.
HPA said on Friday that it had confirmed 160 new cases in the country yesterday. HPA said that this includes 71 new cases from the inhabited islands and another 51 cases from operational resorts.
HPA added that it had confirmed 38 new cases from the Greater Male' Area as well.
With the total number of cases now at 95,700, HPA confirmed that there are currently 2,298 active cases of the pandemic in the country.
HPA also said that 18 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment in the country.
A total of 93,127 people have recovered from the illness in the country.
The fast-spreading disease has killed 262 people in the Maldives since April 2020. Most of those who had succumbed to the pandemic in the Maldives are elderly locals with underlying health conditions but few younger individuals have also passed away because of the global pandemic.
HPA had also said that the total number of COVID cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
