The remaining three members of the Anti Corruption Commission ACC have resigned as the talk of their dismissal grows louder.

The three members who resigned today include Mariyam Shiuna, Fathimath Anool, and Aishath Abdullah. Earlier this month, ACC member Ibrahim Shakeel tendered his resignation from the Commission.

The whole commission resigned as the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions moved to recommend their dismissal to the Parliamentary floor after deliberating on the matter.

The decision to pursue the dismissal of the ACC member was made after an audit of their work through the Auditor General's Office. The Audit showed that the ACC was incapable of investigating cases and had no power to act with authority.

While some cases have been caught in years-long investigations, there are more than 300 cases that have not yet been concluded.

The Commission had yesterday issued a statement yesterday in which it criticized the Performance Audit published by the Auditor General's Office.

It had said that the scope of the audit was different than what was agreed between the two agencies and hence was unfair to the sitting members of the ACC.
