Health Protection Agency HPA has reported that 120 samples from the 5,639 taken in the last 24hrs have tested positive for COVID-19.

HPA said that out of this 1,674 samples were from the Greater Male' Area and that 49 new cases of the pandemic were reported in the area yesterday. HPA said that this means the positivity rate in the capital city remains at 2 percent.

The Agency further said that 36 new cases were reported from the inhabited islands while it also confirmed 35 new cases from operational resorts.

The total number of cases in hte country has now reached 94,564.

HPA said that currently there are 1,939 active cases of the COVID pandemic in the country and that 12 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The Agency has said that a total of 92,351 people have now recovered from the illness here in the Maldives.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed a total of 261 in the Maldives since April 2020 with mostly elderly local individuals with underlying health conditions succumbing to the fast-spreading disease.
