The Civil Court has released MP for Kaashidhoo Constituency Abdullah Jabir after he was taken under police custody following an order issued by the court.

The Civil Court usually issues such orders for defendants who ignore court summons or who cannot be summoned due to their unavailability to accept court chits.

It had been said that he was summoned to the court for a civil matter regarding wages he had owed.

An anonymous source close to the case has confirmed to the media that MP Jabir was released after the Court conditioned him to pay 1/3 of the wages within 10 days.

It has been said that MP Jabir had agreed to appear before the court virtually and the Court had also given its consent for his virtual appearance.

Sources have confirmed that MP Jabir was taken under police custody while he was visiting an island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

Recently authorities have held the MP's passport following which he had staged a protest outside the Parliament building.

The Court then had ordered the authorities to release his passport.

MP Jabir had also been recently involved in a scuffle on Alifu Alifu Atoll Mathiveri.
