Parents of the students of Arabia School have voiced their collective dissatisfaction about the Education Ministry's decision about the issues at the school and have sent a letter addressed to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to voice their concerns.

In the letter to the President, the Parents said that there were upset with the Ministry's decision to transfer the students of the Arab-medium school to Izudhhin school after it was established that the Arabiya school building was in dire need of renovation.

Pictures of cracked concrete pillars, walls, and floors have emerged and parents had questioned how safe the building is for the students.

In the letter, the Parents noted that the decision to transfer the students to another school was made solely by the Ministry and that it went against their wishes.

The Parents said that they had many concerns regarding the possible transfer and that they want to meet President Solih and share their concerns directly with the President as soon as possible.

The Education Ministry had decided to transfer the 1000-something strong student body of Arabia school to Izzudhin school that has four floors but cater for 300 something students.

While Izudheen school only teaches from grades 1-6, Arabiya school teaches students till grade 12.

Parents have said that while Izudheen school has only 20 classrooms, there would be a shortage of space to conduct classes for both schools.

They also said that since Izudheen school is an English medium school and Arabiyya school is an Arab medium school, problems could arise once both the schools are integrated.

The Press was unable to get a comment from the Education Ministry.
