Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed another COVID-19 death in the Maldives as the country braces for the impact of the new COVID variant Omicron.
HPA said today at 06:35 am an 80-year-old local woman admitted in B. Atoll Covid Management Facility had passed away due to the illness.
The Agency had reported a COVID death yesterday after it had said that an 83-year-old local man admitted at Addu COVID facility had succumbed to the illness in the early hours of Saturday.
The two deaths take the total COVID-19 deaths reported in the country to 258.
HPA had reported that out of those 7 deaths have come so far this month.
While the Agency had reported a total of 93,064 cases in the country since March 2020, HPA had said that the total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
