Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 128 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Wednesday.
HPA said yesterday that out of the 128 new cases reported in the country, 79 were confirmed from the inhabited islands while it had reported 46 new cases from the Greater Male' Area.
HPA also reported 3 cases from the operational resorts in the country.
The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country to a staggering 92,629.
HPA said that there are 1,876 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 19 COVID patients currently hospitalized in the country.
The Agency also confirmed that 90,485 people have recovered from the illness in the country.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 255 people in the Maldives since April 2020. Most of those who have succumbed to the illness include elderly locals with underlying health conditions. But the disease has taken the lives of many young individuals as well.
HPA had said that total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
