President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared additional government holidays for the year 2022.

This was announced in a directive issued by the President's Office today.

These are the days that were added to the list of government holidays for next year.

  • 5th May 2022 (Thursday)
  • 13th July 2022 (Wednesday)
  • 14th July 2022 (Thursday)
  • 28th July 2022 (Thursday)

Out of these 5th May falls into the week that has the Eid Al Fitr and was closed as the day on which the government reopens falls on a Thursday.

While Eid Al Adha falls on 9th July 2022, the 13th and 14th of July were closed as those are the remaining days of the week and hence the whole week would now be government holidays.

Also, 28th July was declared a holiday on the occasion of Independence day celebrated on 26th July every year.
