Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 100 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Wednesday.

HPA said that out of the new cases reported yesterday, 70 were from the inhabited islands in the country. HPA reported another 20 new cases from the Greater Male' Area where the positivity rate remains at 2 percent.

It also reported 4 new cases from operational resorts in the country.

The new cases take the total number of COVID cases reported in the country to a staggering 91,750.

HPA said that there are 1,673 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 14 COVID patients currently hospitalized for further treatment.

A total of 89,813 people have now recovered from the illness in the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed 251 people in the Maldives with the latest COVID death coming yesterday.

HPA had said that yesterday at 02:55 pm a 79-year-old local woman admitted at Fuvamulah COVID Management Facility has passed away.

The Agency had also said that total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly related to COVID-19.
