Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 149 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Wednesday.

HPA said that out of the 149 new cases, 111 were reported from the inhabited islands while the Greater Male' Area reported 18 new cases.

HPA had also confirmed 20 new cases of COVID from the operational resorts in the country.

The Agency said that the new cases take the total number of pandemic cases reported in the country since March 2020 to 90,266.

HPA had said that there are 2,150 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 9 COVID patients currently hospitalized for further treatment.

More than 87,850 people have recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives.

The global pandemic has also claimed the lives of 248 individuals in the Maldives, mostly elderly locals with underlying health issues.

Yesterday, HPA had confirmed the death of a 75-year-old woman admitted at the COVID facility in Hulhumale, HMF, the fifth death reported this month.
