President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the government is committed to assisting new businesses to establish themselves and will continue to be a partner of the private sector.

He made the statement at the 'Gold 100 Gala' event held at CROSSROADS Maldives last evening.

Speaking at the event, President Solih highlighted the economic challenges in the country, noting particularly the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic on the tourism sector.

The President stated that the Maldives is now on the path of recovery with economic activities resuming and tourist arrivals going up to 70 percent, compared to pre-Covid arrivals.

In his speech, the President also underscored the important role played by businesses in sustaining the economy.

He remarked that the award-winning businesses were innovative, strong, and successful, adding that they were exemplary businesses that were pursued resourcefully.

The ‘GOLD 100’ is a list of leading 100 business entities in the Maldives, published by Corporate Maldives, every year. The awards were presented to the Gold 100 Winners at Tuesday night’s function. President Solih had officially launched the Gold 100 magazine and awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to special recipients.

The ‘GOLD 100 GALA’ is an invitation-only networking event that brings together top executives from the Maldivian business community and assists those in search of new business ventures. Chairmen, Managing Directors, CEOs, and key decision-makers within the business community of Maldives were in attendance at the event.
