Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 2,201 active cases of COVID-19 in the country as the agency reported 159 new cases yesterday.
HPA said that out of the 159 new cases, 124 cases were confirmed from the inhabited islands while it reported just 19 cases from the Greater Male' Area.
HPA also reported 16 new cases from the operational resorts in the country.
The new cases have taken the total number of cases reported in the country to almost 90,000 with 89,999 cases reported in the country since March 2020.
While HPA had said that there are 2,201 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, 87,538 have recovered from the illness in the country.
The Agency also said that 9 COVID patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 247 people in the Maldives since April 2020.
HPA had also said that the total number of cases includes 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
