Police have conducted an anti-narcotics operation in the capital Male' and have raided two houses in the city.
Police said that the operation was carried out after receiving intel on a drug network that was smuggling and dealing narcotics in the country and that 7 individuals were arrested during the raid.
They said that the 7 individuals arrested included 4 men and 3 women.
Police identified the suspects as a 55-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 29-year-old man as well as a 22-year-old man, a 53-year-old woman, a 30-year-old woman, and a 24-year-old woman.
They said that drugs and alcohol were confiscated from the scenes.
Police noted that they had seized 2 kg of cannabis as well as 200g of Heroin and bottles of alcohol.
Police also said that the criminal court had ordered that the 29-year-old man and the 33-year-old man be remanded in police custody for 15 days while the other five had been released without any charges.
But police said that they were actively investigating the case.
