Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 130 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Friday.

HPA said that out of the 130 new cases, 103 new cases were reported from the inhabited islands across the country. HPA also said that 19 cases were reported from the Greater Male' Area and that the capital city's COVID positivity rate remained at 2 percent.

It added that another 8 cases were reported from the operational resorts.

The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country since March 2020 to 88,516.

HPA had said that there are currently 1,968 active cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country with 86,290 recoveries reported till now.

The Agency added that 25 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment in the country.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 245 people in the Maldives with the latest death coming yesterday.

HPA had said that yesterday at 11:46 am an 87-year-old Maldivian female admitted at Addu Covid Management Facility has passed away due to COVID-19.
