Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed the death of an elderly man who had succumbed to COVID-19 in the country today.
HPA said that today at 07:19 am an 81-year-old Maldivian male admitted at HMF has passed away.
This is the first COVID-19 death reported this month while HPA had confirmed 11 COVID deaths in the Maldives last month.
The Agency had also said that a total of 244 people have now died from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
HPA had also said that the total cases reported in the country include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly related to COVID-19.
Yesterday, HPA had reported 219 new cases of COVID-19 county with the bulk of the cases confirmed from the inhabited islands.
There are now close to 2,000 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 33 COVID patients currently hospitalized for further treatment.
