Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed more than 88,000 cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives since March 2020.
It had said that another 143 new cases were reported in the country today with 117 of the cases confirmed from the inhabited islands.
HPA also reported 23 new cases from the Greater Male' Area and said that the positivity rate in the capital city had now fallen to 2 percent.
The Agency added that 3 cases were reported from the operational resorts in the country.
The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to a staggering 88,058.
HPA highlighted that the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the country has now reached 1,860 while the number of hospitalized COVID patients has increased to 30.
A total of 85,942 people have recovered from the pandemic in the Maldives.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 243 individuals in the Maldives and most of those who succumbed to the illness are elderly individuals with underlying health conditions.
