Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed more than 100 new cases of COVID-19 from the inhabited islands on Sunday.
The Agency said that a total of 146 new cases were reported yesterday and that 102 new cases were confirmed from the inhabited islands.
HPA noted that 33 out of the 1,185 tested positive for COVID from the Greater Male' Area, and said that the capital city's positivity rate remains at 3 percent.
It added that the remaining 11 cases were from the operational resorts.
HPA said that there are 1.792 active cases of COVID-19 in the country at moment and that the number of hospitalized COVID patients has now increased to 30.
A total of 85,736 people have now recovered from the illness in the country.
The COVID-19 global pandemic had claimed the lives of 243 people in the Maldives with 12 deaths coming in October.
HPA had also said that the total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
